Guidi, Ruzanda. "'The Book of Mormon' Musical Not-so-funny to Mormons." KPCC. N.p., n.d. Web. 03 Oct. 2012. <http://www.scpr.org/news/2012/09/12/34240/book-mormon-musical-not-so-funny-mormons/>.
This public radio station in California illustrates the religious strife between Mormons, and the new satirical musical: The Book of Mormon. I particularly enjoy musicals, and I happen to find this one funny, like many other viewers. I do not mock the religion, and I do not think lowly of them, however if there was a musical making fun of me, I might feel offended as well. I learned from this resource that it is okay to make fun of something you are, but when someone else does, it feels like an attack. I chose this article because I have always been interested in the Mormon reaction to this musical. I have often heard a generally positive response from people who do not mind poking fun at themselves, but even some comedians believe that it was taken to far. In order for change to happen, I think people need to understand that it was not meant to be an attack. In my opinion, this kind of musical can bring to light religious conflict and help to spark interest in finding out more about the topic. I know that for me, I did not assume that Mormon religion was just like what they said in the musical. I fully understood that it was a joke. This lead me to look up more information about the religion because I wanted to know the real facts and compare. I think people need to take it with a grain of salt, but to always stay true to their own beliefs.
