Maddie Kness Religious Strife

The religious conflict that my article focuses on is that Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate for the 2012 election is a Mormon and even though some people have stated that they would not vote for Mitt Romney because of his religion, it is not an issue for this election. Unlike in 1960 when President Kennedy was running, his Catholic religion was so controversial that it almost caused him the election. I picked this article because the presidential debate was on television tonight and because I have heard of this issue before but did not know the logistics of the situation. I learned about President Kennedy's campaign and how it his religion affected this election. I think that people should care in this situation to be aware of what his religion is and how that affects his stand points in government. Not to the fact that he is a Mormon but to how this affects his governmental ideals. Also, the other 20% of Republicans should not care solely about Romney's religion when deciding on who to vote for in the 2012 election. My article was: Turner, John G. "Mitt Romney’s Mormon Religion a Non-issue during the 2012 Presidential Election." Washington Post. The Washington Post, 03 Oct. 2012. Web. 03 Oct. 2012. <http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/mitt-romneys-mormon-religion-a-non-issue-during-the-2012-presidential-election/2012/10/03/2b067322-0d7f-11e2-a310-2363842b7057_story.html>.
